Established in 1906 the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) is not only Australia’s oldest orchestra, but one of the country’s most forward-looking major arts institutions. It currently engages over 2.5 million people through live and recorded broadcasts and performs live to more than 300,000 people annually, in concerts ranging from performances at its home, Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne, to its annual free concerts at Melbourne’s largest outdoor venue, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Digital Content Producer

About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Digital Content Producer to join our Media team, on a full-time basis with a start date of July/August 2022.

As the Digital Content Producer, you will play a critical role in all parts of the Media team including video production skills, camera operations, lighting, audio recording, video editing and post-production.

The role works closely with the Operations team and Orchestra and will require intermediate to advanced production management skills including the ability to manage all elements of video shoots and broadcasts, ranging from booking venues, talent and gear to setting production schedules. The role can be quite demanding at times, and you will need to have the ability to operate under pressure and thrive as part of a small close-knit team.

This is an exciting time to be joining the MSO and a fantastic opportunity for a visual content professional who is passionate about sharing the arts with digital audiences. Working closely within a dedicated team, this role will be well suited to someone looking to make a positive contribution to a much-loved cultural icon.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Video production skills
  • Production Management skills
  • Knowledge of livestreaming and broadcast management
  • An understanding of photography and design
  • Experience using Adobe Cloud suite
  • A tireless commitment to sharing the arts with all people
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to achieve deadlines
  • Solid teamwork and coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and time management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to balance attention to detail with broader strategic outcomes
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal hours e.g. evenings, weekends, public holidays on occasion

An exciting opportunity is available for an Associate Producer – MSO Presents to support our Executive Producer on a full time ongoing basis.

As an Associate Producer, you will play a critical role in in the delivery of commercial projects of outstanding quality and commercial success. You will work to support the delivery of strategic, commercial, and artistic advice to the Company and will take a lead on contract negotiation and administration of guest artists. You will assist in the creation and management of stage presentation and be the point of contact internally for productions.

This is an exciting time to be joining the MSO with a return to live performance and a fantastic opportunity to make an impact on the commercial programming content. Working closely with the Executive Producer, this role will be well suited to someone looking to make a positive contribution to a much-loved cultural icon.

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Producing or Production Admin role in the arts & entertainment industry.
  • Experience of producing in line with brand standards and house style guidelines.
  • Excellent project coordination and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines & operate under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and under direction as required.
