The following permanent, full time position will be auditioned by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 2021.
Assistant Principal Viola
- The first and second movements of the Stamitz OR the Hoffmeister viola concerto, with cadenza
- PLUS the first movement of the Bartók OR the Walton viola concerto
- PLUS Orchestral excerpts
Closing date: Wednesday 27 October 2021
All candidates will be required to submit a recording for the first round. For all subsequent rounds, candidates may present live for an audition, or choose to submit a recording.
Repertoire for the first round will be advised on Thursday 28 October 2021. All recordings of the first round requirements will need to be provided to MSO by COB Thursday 25 November. All candidates will be advised of their results from the first round no later than 1 December 2021.
Audio only recordings are to be provided (no video).
For all subsequent rounds, applicants who are successful in progressing past the first round will be invited to attend a live audition in Melbourne on Tuesday 14 December 2021 or may choose to submit a recording if they are unable to present in person for the audition.
